Hi I'm Brit. I like
puppies, Jim Beam, and coffee. Not specifically in that order... Sweatshirts and
cold rainy days are nice too. I don't like food you can't eat with
your fingers, Pepsico, or most people. There are a lot
of things that I don't like actually, but let's keep it positive. Alright? I've been in a
million bands, ran a venue for a while, and have been a DJ at a few other stations.
This show has been on the air off and on since 1991. Same name, same
ethic, different stations. Striving to bring you each week, the
newest and the best of a genre that will never die. As long as there
are corporations buying great songs in an attempt to get that
demographic, some ad agency trying to be edgy and hip so fatass
Americans will buy another hamburger, or MTV trying to water down
anger and aggression so they have greater penetration into the bible
belt... I'll keep doing it.
I like punk rock of
all types, American, European... World-wide punk!!! With all of the splitting
and typing... Old School, Skatecore, Straight-Edge, Hardcore,
Sludgecore, Queercore, Grindcore, Streetpunk, Oi, etc... it has all gotten pretty ridiculous.
One thing
is certain... most of the new shit sucks. I mean most of the
stuff you hear. The truly underground stuff is still kicking ass.
There are quite a few intelligent groundbreaking innovative artists
out there. This stuff would never get any airplay if it wasn't for
people like me, and listeners like you. I do this show with the idea that a lot of
people like different stuff, whether it sucks or not is subjective.
You may not like Oi, but Cock Sparrer is one of the greatest pop
bands of all time. You may not like pop, but Screeching Weasel is
one of the best Punk bands ever. You might not like metal, but Dr.
Know is one of the best Skatecore bands. It's all intertwined, it's
all connected, and that's how you have to approach it to get a firm
understanding. I'll play old stuff with a mix of
new stuff one day, and the next time play newer stuff with old stuff mixed in. Overall, it's
not what I want to play (yet it is)... but it's more of what I
think people should hear, and thus "get it." That's why you'll hear
such a range of stuff on my show. This is where corporate rock/corporate radio went so
ridiculously hideously astray. No matter what trends tell them, no one
wants to hear Smash Mouth, or any of that other shit 50 times a
day. Where's the educational value in the same 10 fucking songs
over and over again? Don't be a demographic, a ratings point. Be
untamed, keep the fire burning. Once you stop learning, once you
give in... lay down, die... you're done. We
need to keep this movement through music alive. We need to be angry.
We need to question. That is what
really matters. That, and having some motherfucking fun!
As the lines get blurry between what is punk rock, and what
is not punk rock just realize that it doesn't fucking matter.
If you like it, you like it. It's not a trend or a fad.
It still is a way of life. To the true believers it always will be. Stay true to
yourself, your beliefs, your ideals, and your friends, and rest of the bullshit
doesn't matter. That's why so much of the mass media sucks.
Bands that have no real beliefs, songs that have no real feeling,
lyrics that have no meaning... don't buy into it. Don't be a sheep.
Broad appeal is for the masses of idiots out there. Continue to
think for yourself, continue to be outspoken, continue to be an
outsider. Look at the alternative? And above all else... "fuck 'em
if they can't take a joke!"

Media Dropout- Muddled...
This record sucks. Period. This is the kind of crap you'd expect
from some small town you've never heard of, from a state like
Wyoming or Montana. Every song sounds like Nirvana, and not the
better Nirvana. I can't stress enough just how bad this is. I can't
believe that someone paid to put this shit out. I was going to give
it a half star for the effort, but when God is the first person in
the thank you list, and not even he would visit your shitty myspace...

Nazi Dogs- Chase The Man...
From Germany, but with a Swedish vibe. Lo-Fi vocals with stripped
down '77 style. Lyrics are good but hard to hear sometimes. Awesome
covers, Pagans, Devo, Suicide King. Another drawback, all the
originals at first sound the same. After a glance at the lyric sheet
and repeated listenings, you'll be singing along...

Alcoholic White Trash- Punk
Rock Jihad... Usually
all the records I get from Canada are great, this one has it's
moments, but overall falls flat. The hundreds of "fucks" are as
annoying as the stupid lyrics. The snare drum sounds like a tin can
and the metallic guitar riffs don't work in the mix. On COPS, real
white trash are funnier and far more clever... On Crusty...

Mostros- Feed The Rockin' Soul...
From the onset, this Brazilian band kicks ass. Lots of female
fronted bands spring to mind, Gits, Plasmatics, Xray Spex, Midnight
Creeps, but that's just the voice. The band can really play, and
play well. This band won't stay unknown for long...

This is one release I was looking forward to. Following up great
records with a great record isn't easy, and often hard to do for the
most seasoned band. These guys did not disappoint. Smart streetpunk
that rocks balls. Weird stuff leading up to the bonus track, which
isn't some throw away track, it like the rest of the record, smokes. Buy it now... On TKO...

Impulsive- Destruction...
Japan has been known for their thrash bands, as well as their
streetpunk bands, but this is a mix of the two. It has a thrashy
production, but the songs and song structures scream Oi. The entire
record grabs your attention from beginning to the end. When it does
end, you listen to it over again...

Anal Thunder- Table For One...
Finnish punk, that's just out to have a good time. I love poppy
guitar leads that really get you into the song, and this record is
full of them. Its sort of melodic, but not in a pussy way. Good
lyrics, good voice, full on recommended... On Fullhouse...
